Mark Zuckerberg: Facebook Will Apply More Strict Regulation

The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg decided to intensify their regulation towards dangerous online content. A giant social media platform like Facebook is asked by the government and people to stop the spread of hoax or wrong information. Recently, Facebook has been criticized for their policy on political area. Mark Zuckerberg will come up with some new regulations regarding to this issue.

As Mark Zuckerberg spoke at the Munich Security Conference held in Germany, he said that Facebook launched new policies for political advertising in the US since 2018 which allow the content of advertisement to be kept in the database for seven years. This rule also required to show who pays for the political advertisement.

In Europe, Mark Zuckerberg met politicians to talk more about regulation, data practices and tax reform. He wants government to take a part in the new regulation system for social media platform. He suggests mixing the rules of media companies and telecoms. He didn’t want to let the private company such as Facebook to make lots of decisions about social equities, especially in political area without democratic process.

To overcome all of this, more than 3500 people review the content in Facebook and secure the security of the data. Zuckerberg also said that fake account will be deleted every day by the assistance from AI.  He also explained that the budget for content review is more than the previous year even far away bigger than 2012, when Facebook already has billion users.

Even though Facebook tackle some issues over political advertising, the number of its user keep increasing including in Messenger, Instagram and Whatsapp. Even in this early month, Whatsapp is used by more than a quarter of the people all around the world.
